Welcome to the website of award winning pencil artist Brian Ainsworth Brian started work in London as a Graphic Designer/Illustrator working for ad agencies and design studios, before moving to Devon to start his own graphic design business. He was inspired to take up drawing in 2006 when he heard about Devon Artist Network's open exhibition. His family encouraged him to enter and he drew a portrait of his springer spaniel Bessie. Having worked in many different media over the years, including oils and acrylics, his enjoyment with working with pencils is apparent. Last year, Brian was thrilled to gain national recognition for two of his works through the UK Coloured Pencil Society's annual open international exhibition, having both of the drawings he submitted included in the show. A panel of judges awarded him the Faber Castell Award for one and Highly Commended for the other. He is thrilled that this year his work will feature in the Animal Art Fair in London in May. After being impressed by his work, the fair organisers got in touch and invited him to take part in the event, which will feature work by some of the best animal artists in the world. Brian doesn't just draw animals, he also enjoys drawing people, although when pushed to choose, he admits he prefers to draw animals. He takes commissions, many of which come from pet owners seeking a memento of their furry friend.
