What to do

On the doorstep
A small gate at the end of our woodland garden leads into Kerswell Downs - an area of ancient woodland criss-crossed with paths and carpeted in bluebells in spring. It is a lovely walk through the woods and lanes to the Bickley Mill Inn, recently refurbished and serving excellent food using local produce. There are a further four pubs in and around the village. A pleasant ten minute stroll will take you past the church with its stream, to the Post Office/newsagent, Chemist, well-stocked Co-op (open 8 till 8) butcher and hairdresser. We have a box of organic veg delivered regularly by Riverford Farm near Totnes for our own consumption, and can order one on your behalf if wished.

This is an incredible landscape of crystal clear streams, wooded valleys, picture postcard villages, attractive market towns and much, much more. People love to walk, horse ride, cycle or simply relax and enjoy the fine landscape of this wonderful National Park.

There are many miles of spectacular open moorland to explore, tors to climb, stunning scenes to savour.

Beautiful Beaches
The nearest beaches are at Torquay, Paignton and Teignmouth, but they can be very crowded in the summer. Just south of Dartmoor is the spectacular Slapton Sands, backed by a freshwater lagoon, and the wooded suntrap of Blackpool Sands with its organic cafe. Wembury has an excellent marine interpretation centre and rockpool rambles.
